The City Of Bayonne and the BTC Announce the 1st Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest

BAYONNE, NJ – July 2, 2008 - The Bayonne Town Center and the City of Bayonne would like to announce that Frank Paulyzn is the winner of the 1st Annual Hot Dog Eating Contest, sponsored by Petridis Hot Dogs and Forum Fitness Club. Paulyzn received a 1 year membership to Forum Fitness club and a trophy.  In 12 minutes he ate 13 Sabrett hotdogs!

At the end of regulation 2 contestants were tied with 12 hot dogs.  Two hot dogs were given to the contestants and whoever finished them first was declared the 2nd place winner.  The second place winner was Juan Guzman (12 Sabrett hotdogs) who received a 6 month gym membership and trophy and third place winner Cesar Alvia (12 Sabrett hot dogs) who won a 3 month membership and trophy.  All contestants received a free t-shirt and were given a 14 day pass to Forum Fitness Club.

This year’s contestants were: Ross Castellano (11 dogs), Dave Wolhtman (6 dogs), Tim Bonner (14 dogs/disqualified), Frank Paulyzn (13 Dogs), Bill Reason (10 dogs), Juan Guzman (12 dogs), Alfredo Siaba (8 Dogs), Michael Jensen (9 dogs), John Kapnisis (10 dogs), Cesar Alvia (12 dogs), Mike Caballero (10 dogs), Anthony Rodriguez (9 dogs), Mark Yaroshewich (7 dogs), and Brian English (7 dogs).

The contest was held on Saturday, July 19th at noon in front of Petridis Hot Dogs on 25th Street & Broadway during the 28th Annual Sidewalk Sale.  30 contestants ranging in ages from 19 years to 53 years participated in this contest.
