Record Attendance at Classic Car Show

BAYONNE, NJ – August 17, 2006 - On Thursday, August 17th, the Bayonne Town Center hosted the third Car Show in the summer series.  The show was held on Broadway between 17 & 20 Streets.  Over 300 people attended this car show, setting a new record for car show attendance.  Kids were lined up all night to participate in the new hit, slot car racing presented by the Candle Cottage and Past Time Hobbies.  John Joynt, age 5, said, “I was going to go to the Giants game tonight, but I wanted to come to race the cars instead.”  Trophies were handed out to the first, second and third place winners.

Not to be outdone, Bayonne’s own Eddie O’Rourke entertained the crowd by singing classic Elvis favorites.  A DJ spun oldies throughout the night while guests danced down Broadway.

In addition to slot car racing and the musical entertainment, vintage bicycles were on display courtesy of Eddy’s Cycle City.  Join us for our next car show scheduled for Thursday, September 21st.

Bayonne Town Center events are made possible trough the generous support of our sponsors: Bayonne Urban Enterprise Zone, Shop Rite of Bayonne, Bayonne Community Bank, William Dundas IV Mechanical Contractors, the Big Apple, Past Time Hobbies, Eddy’s Cycle City, and the Candle Cottage.
