BTC Initiates 2nd Phase of Jump Start Facade Program

BAYONNE, NJ – April 8th, 2006 - Would you like to improve the appearance of your store’s facade but you don’t know how?  The Bayonne Town Center is starting the second phase of its successful Jump Start Facade Improvement Program.  Thanks to funding from the Bayonne UEZ, we will be able to work with ten Bayonne Town Center businesses as well as with ten other businesses that are considered gateways to the district.  You’ve probably noticed the recent improvements done at the Big Apple Restaurant, a participant in the first phase of the Jump Start Facade Improvement Program.  In order to be eligible for this program, you must be a member of the UEZ.  Becoming a member of the UEZ is free & easy.  For more information on becoming part of the UEZ, contact Terrence Malloy or Dee Dee Bottino at (201)858-6357.  

If you are selected to participate in the program, you will receive, free of charge, the following services: a well-known and respected architect will prepare a rendering of your improved facade and the architect will suggest materials for the project, as well as provide a cost estimate for making the recommended improvements.  The Bayonne Town Center staff will then help you find an architect to do the actual construction drawings, obtain funding for the construction drawings, find a contractor, and apply for funds from the City’s Facade Improvement Program which is administered by Sheila Antczak in the office of Community Development.

Participants for the program will be selected on May 5th, 2006 on the basis of the following criteria: likelihood that the applicant will make the improvements, strategic importance of the business location, and the frontage of the facade.
