| BAYONNE, NJ – October 28, 2005 - Irwin's, in conjunction with the Bayonne Town Center, held its first pumpkin decorating contest. Children ages 14 and under were able to show off their artistic talent by submitting their pumpkins at Irwin's (474 Broadway) from October 14th through October 28th. These pumpkin masterpieces were displayed along the counter at Irwin's for shoppers to admire in the weeks before Halloween. Pumpkin designs ranged from distant planets to whales to zebras to pumpkins filled with candy.
Cathy Jakubowski, Executive Director of the Bayonne Town Center, judged the contest on the evening of Friday the 28th. "The pumpkins entered in this contest show how talented and creative the children of the community are. Each pumpkin was so unique that it made it hard for me to pick a winner," said Jakubowski.
The participants of this contest didn't go away empty-handed. The first prize winner Stasia Marek won a $50 Irwin's Gift Certificate, 2nd prize winner Jade Wells Porrman & 3rd prize winner Rose Stewart each won a $25 Irwin's Gift Certificate.
